Microsoft Follows Suit

If you attended my presentation at Kioskcom in Las Vegas, you heard me say that the growing number of application stores was one of the enablers facilitating convergence. In regard to the application submission process, some have knocked Apple for dictating what developers can or can’t do in their applications. Well…. as it turns out, Microsoft is following suit by restricting applications from doing things as well. These restrictions include, but are not limited to, using competing browsers, accessing competing application stores and using VOIP. For those who waste time arguing the merits of Apple vs Microsoft or Microsoft vs Apple, this should give you pause. (see the article in PC World Online for more information)
